Rajamudi,’ a variety of red rice native to Hassan and Mysore districts of Karnataka was earlier grown exclusively for the Wodeyars, the Maharajas of Mysore as it was a favourite, everyday meal for the erstwhile Kings.   Superior to other unpolished rice varieties, Rajamudi is medium grained rice with a ting of red colour, sweet tasting, increases in quantity on cooking. It is a rich source of dietery fiber, antioxidants and iron. 

Uses: for daily consumption, can also be used to prepare papads, rice flour for rotis, kadabu, chakalis.
